Sometimes you just hear something the wrong way. Usually it’s something that makes you laugh, especially making you feel a little embarrassed sometimes. It usually ends with “oh, I thought you said…” and everyone has a laugh.
The other day I was listening to the radio and misheard something that changed my day and possibly my life. The personality on the radio said “stop playing connect the dots” but I heard “stop playing connect the doubts” and it totally put me into overthinking mode.
Connecting the doubts is something I’ve found myself doing most of my life. Nothing kills progress like going down a doubt rabbit hole which is way too easy to do and a daily struggle for most of us. I’ll never lose weight, that website will never work, I’m not smart enough, I’m not strong enough….see the pattern.
What I thought I heard that day has become my new mantra when I need to remove a roadblock from my day. Just repeating “stop playing connect the doubts” has turned into a much needed foot in the pants for me to get my day running again when I stall out.
It’s way too easy to let one negative thought take control over an entire day and drop your enthusiasm and energy levels to rock bottom, taking all the productivity out of your day. So remember, when you hit a wall in your mind, shout it to yourself “STOP PLAYING CONNECT THE DOUBTS!!” break through that wall and have an awesome day!
But let him ask in faith, with no doubting,
for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea
driven and tossed by the wind.
James 1:6 New King James Version
For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain,
‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt
in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done,
he will have whatever he says.
Mark 11:23 New King James Version
What’s your mountain?
